  3. Brian Baptized In Jordan River The Associated Press is reporting that former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was baptized Saturday (March 5) in the Jordan River, just weeks after quitting his band, drug habits and rock-and-roll lifestyle for religion. Welch, a founding member of the multi-platinum band, and about 20 other white-robed Christian pilgrims from a Bakersfield, Calif., church were immersed by their pastor, Ron Vietti. Welch said the ritual baptism had washed away his anger. "You know when you get angry and it builds up? I felt like hurting someone before, now I feel like hugging people," he said. Vietti said Welch — who has "Jesus" tattooed across his knuckles and "Matthew 11:28," tattooed prominently across his neck — is already attracting a new group of young people to the message of Christianity. "In recent weeks people have committed their lives to God because they're so inspired by his story," Vietti said. KORN announced Welch's resignation last month after 13 years with the band. Welch said he had become increasingly depressed and drug-addicted in recent years, but that religion helped him quit. He said he plans to release more music without the band. "My songs are God saying things to me, him talking to people. He's going to use me to heal people and people are going to be drawn to it, just watch, they will be," he said. www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net
  4. "Well the writing is almost done I have been having fun watching my ex guitar player bash us. What can I say but good luck bro, I'm done with your false crusade. Korn will keep “poluting” the world as long as we have fans. Life is fuckin crazy, damn, fuck it. Anyways, the music your gonna hear on this album is the best shit we have ever done. It's insane, I can't wait to record it peace" Jonathan Davis said... btw,Evropska Turneja je tek 2006.godine... www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net
  5. Head se juche ponovo obratio javnosti: "When it was first announced that I was leaving the band and rededicating my life to Christianity, I thought it was weird that people thought it was weird," he said. "And rather than maybe giving Christ a chance, people just start trashing my decision, because they're afraid of taking that chance. If people cared about me, they would sit down, talk to me, and come out and experience everything I've been experiencing lately. Then maybe they'd open their ears and hearts and try it for themselves." Welch is quick to add that he's not trying to "preach" to anyone about his newly discovered spirituality, despite taking to the pulpit last weekend at a church in Bakersfield, California (see "Brian 'Head' Welch Talks God To 10,000 In California Church"). He said he just wants to reach out to people who are in the same spot that he was in four months ago — depressed, addicted, even suicidal. "I had nothing to lose. I remember lying in bed, thinking, 'Take me home, Lord.' But he helped me through it. He made me the happiest man alive," Welch said. "And anyone who makes fun of me for it, I welcome them to try it out. So many people just don't want to try, and I want to reach out to them." One way Welch plans to reach out to his naysayers is through his new music, which he had previously described as "an extension of the Korn family" (see "Brian 'Head' Welch Explains Why He Left Korn"). Initially he was tight-lipped about the details, but after reading his first interview with MTV News, he was quick to clear a few things up. Primarily, he was concerned that it was reported that his new songs wouldn't be "Christian music." "My music is going to have a Christian, spiritual edge to it, for sure. I didn't mean to be confusing earlier," he said. "I mean, I have a song called 'Kry,' which I feel is like God talking to me. I mean, it's not heavy Christian music. It's just a reflection of how I feel now. It's about life experiences. It's happy, uplifting, fairy tale music." Welch is writing more songs now while he is in Israel with members of the Valley Bible Fellowship, the Bakersfield church where he spoke last weekend, and he's confident that the music will speak for itself. "I want to make music that will help people. I want to use every dime of the money I make off the songs to build skate parks for kids," he said. "My life now is about helping kids." Welch said he plans on recording a cover of U2's "With or Without You," done "very different from the original." And he's also working on a politically inspired tune tentatively titled "Bleeder." But he's not just working on new tunes — he's also taking his mission of helping to another medium: TV. "I want to do a reality show on my life change. I'm going to be writing checks for a quarter, a half-a-million dollars at a time on big business deals," he said. "People will tune in to see what kinds of things I'll be buying for them with our money we make from my solo career. I don't like money unless it helps people. ... We'll make TV history." And just to put any lingering doubts to rest, Welch wants his fans to know that while he wishes his former bandmates all the best, there's no way he'll be returning to the Korn camp anytime soon — if ever. "If I went back, that would confuse my kid. I don't ever see myself going back. I'm not going to change. I finally was able to stand up for myself and quit being addicted to money," he said. "I don't want to pollute the world anymore. I want to spread a message of love and understanding, and that's what I'm going to do." www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net

  8. "We love you, buddy," Vietti responded, followed by a loud cheer from the audience, a group of all ages that seemed enthralled in everything Welch had to say. The guitarist, who showed off new tattoos on his neck ("Matthew 11:28") and fist ("JESUS"), took the stage after a 20-minute set of Christian worship songs from a rock band, as well as a 20-minute sermon from Vietti, who talked about his coming to God and surviving leukemia after being told he would die from the disease. Welch said he now works for the Lord and announced that he would be joining Vietti on a trip to Israel this week, where the pastor plans to "dunk me in the Jordan River" — meaning to baptize the new Christian. "This is the book of life right here," he said, pulling a Bible from his back pocket. "It's not about religion, it's not about this church, it's not about me. It's about the book of life and everybody needs to be taught this. It's crazy, it's gonna do stuff like this, like change a guy in a rock band." At the end of their discussion, Vietti asked non-Christians interested in "being saved" to come forward, and at least 40 mostly young people followed suit. In the end, the pastor said more than 200 people came to Christianity throughout the services, including members of the media there to cover Welch's talk. "More people came up and gave their lives to God than I anticipated, but that's good," Welch said after the services — and after signing hundreds of autographs. "I'm tripping out a little bit, but it's cool. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me." "Do you guys think I'm crazy?" he added, gesturing to reporters. "Everything on MTV is 50 Cent, Eminem, diss this, diss that. This is something positive." When he returns from Israel, Welch plans to launch a solo career, with music about his experiences as a new Christian, and then give the money to charities and to Valley Bible Fellowship's plan to build "rock and roll churches" across America. "Every dime I make is going back to the people in a positive way," he said. "I'm gonna change the world or die trying." Welch said he tried to convince the other members of Korn to come to the church, but had no luck. However, he stills considers them his best friends. "I love them so much," he said. "I'm happy. I just want to do good. I'm not doing nothing wrong. I don't want to hurt the band Korn. I don't want to hurt anyone. My music is about love; it's love without saying it. "With Korn, I got the money, all kinds of drugs of choice, everything, but this is my life now," he added. "I'm never gonna change. That drug [meth] is known for making people crazy, but I'm in my right mind. This was all His plan. You were supposed to be here talking to me." www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net

  10. 28 Feb 2005 Ex-Korn guitarist Head speaks about leaving the band to re-dedicate his life to Christianity. Speaking to MTV, Brain 'Head' Welch said the following: "I love everybody in the band - I was afraid to leave. It made me sad to think that I would be hurting the band if I left. For the last year and a half, I wanted to leave, but someone would always talk to me and convince me to stay," Welch said. "But I've had a problem with the way things were going since the second record. I mean, we would do things, and I would be like, 'Oh, this is metal! This is the rock and roll life!' But inside, I thought they took it too far. It was a little too crude for me. "I have a 6-year-old daughter, and I want her to be able to look me in the eye. I'm a single dad, that's what it comes down to," he said. "And the guys were really accommodating when I would tell them that. They'd be like, 'Bring your daughter on tour! We'll work the tour around you.' But that's not the place for a 6-year-old. She would be sitting backstage sometimes, just counting dollars. Because Fieldy would tell her, 'Every time you hear a curse word, you'll get a dollar. It will help us stop cursing.' And at the end of the day, she'd turn to me and be like, 'Look at all my money, Daddy!' " Speacking about his bandmates' reaction to his leaving, he said, "I think it made the guys mad. It confused them. I left at the worst possible time. We got off Sony, and all the money was there, we were going to own all of our songs, but I had to prove to myself that money wasn't my God," he said. "I talked to Jonathan [Davis] and he said, 'I don't get it, man, you're all happy and we're sitting here grieving because our band is breaking up. And I wanted to tell him, 'Well, for years, you guys were out partying while I was sitting on the tour bus wanting to die.' " www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net
  11. Brian "Head" Welch, founding guitarist of the Bakersfield-based metal act KORN for 13 years, is leaving the platinum-selling group for God. Welch told The Californian Tuesday that his decision to leave KORN, a band that has sold millions of records, may be seen as surprising to many. "My old friend called today and said he was called up by another friend of mine who said, 'Who brainwashed Brian?'" the rocker laughed. "Man, you guys don't even know. "A lot of people think I'm crazy. I don't care." Welch said he quit the band the first week of January, although he didn't go public with the decision until a radio interview Sunday. Welch said he will go into more detail about his reasons for leaving the band during Valley Bible Fellowship's three Sunday services this weekend. "He just wanted to share a little bit about what's going on in his life and we said OK," said Josh Vietti, office administrator for Valley Bible Fellowship on East Brundage Lane. Welch said he became more and more disenchanted with the image he saw of himself in KORN's music and videos, versus how he actually felt about himself. "Those guys in the band, they're not bad guys. They're just a bunch of kids getting marketed how these guys in the big corporate firms want to do," Welch said. "It makes us look like bad people, but we're really just a bunch of kids who never had a chance to grow up. "You're shut in a (tour) bus with your best friends with as much beer as you can handle. Drug dealers come to the show. I'm growing up right now. I didn't have a chance to (before) with all the free beer I got." And as a father of a 6-year-old daughter, Welch said he knew he needed to set a better example. "I just grew up a little bit," he said. "I've got a daughter. I've got to think of my kid. I just want to do the right thing." To keep him on, Welch said management offered to try to accommodate his daughter coming with him on tour, but he wasn't interested. Welch was also unhappy with the music video for the band's recent hit, a remake of funk band CAMEO's 1985 hit "Word Up", where the band members' faces are superimposed over the faces of dogs and go to a strip club. Welch said the video was "so dumb that it's not even funny" and added it was "horrible, horrible. It's just not me." Welch said he debated leaving the band over the past year-and-a-half and that he has upset a lot of people with his decision. www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net
  12. Questions: 1.Well one is are you guys staying together after the album? 2.Will you still be touring? 3.Playing older songs live? 4.If so will that mean you will be finding a new guitar player? Jonathan Davis said: 1.Yes we are staying together... 2.Yes we are touring... 3.Yes we will play the old songs... 4.And no we won't get a new guitar player we are going to be a 4 piece live... 14. Billboard.com is reporting that former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch spoke to the Bakersfield, California station KRAB-FM on Sunday (Feb. 20) regarding his decision to leave the group, citing a recent religious awakening. "I had it in my heart to come here and explain to you," Welch said. "I'm good friends with KORN. I love those guys, and they love me, and they're very happy for me." Welch added that he would be appearing at the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California on Sunday (Feb. 27), during which time he would "speak [about] how I got to this place in my life, and I'll answer all your questions." KORN have yet to announce a replacement for Welch. The group are currently in the studio working on a new album, tentatively due in HEAD: "Anger is a good thing, and if kids want to listen to KORN, good, but there's happiness after the anger. I'm going to show it through my actions how much I love my fans." www.norkcrew.cjb.net www.fieldysdreams.net
