If you follow bass players, you probably know who Michael Manring is. You may be familiar with his recordings on Windham Hill, Unusual Weather, Toward the Center of the Night, Drastic Measures, Thonk, or his Bass Player Of The Year award, or maybe you've caught one of his amazing solo concerts. Actually, if you don't know who Michael Manring is, you've still probably heard him play on one of many session recordings he's done for Michael Hedges, William Ackerman, Montreux, John Gorka, Patty Larkin, Ira Stein & Russel Walder, Carlo Reyes, Darol Anger & Mike Marshall, Philip Aaberg, Holly Near, Opafire, Danny Heines, Trapezoid, Schoenhertz & Scott, Paul Machlis, Enzo Avitabile Altazor, and others. Michael is one of the busiest musicians around, and one of the nicest guys too. Michael has recorded with guitarist Carl Weingarten for several new Multiphase recordings including, Blue Faith, Escapesilence and The Red Night Concert.
Michael is also with the quartet Cloud Chamber featuring Barry Cleveland (guitar), Dan Reiter (cello) and Michael Masley (cymbalom).
