Dutch death metallers GOD DETHRONED recently entered Soundlodge Studios in Germany to begin recording their new album, tentatively due before the end of the year. The band's frontman Henri Sattler has posted the following studio update on the band's official web site: "Tomorrow producer Jörg Uken will start on the mix of our new album called, 'The Toxic Touch'. These will be the songtitles: 'Typhoid Mary', 'On Wings of Pestilence', 'Falling Down', 'Away From Emptiness', 'Hating Life', 'Bleeding Mirrors', 'Fail to Exist', 'Macabre World' and '2014'. The artwork is being made as we speak by Jacek Wisniewski who also did the cover for our 'Lair of the White Worm' album. We've seen the first concepts of the artwork and it looks very promising. Mix and mastering should be finished before the end of June and the release is scheduled for October through Metal Blade Records."

Ex-SEPULTURA/current SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera has slammed the current touring version of his former band as "fake" and has reiterated his desire to one day take part in a reunion of the group's classic lineup. When asked during a Sirius Satellite Radio interview last month if there have been talks between him and the guys in SEPULTURA about getting back together one day, Max said, "There's been a lot of talk — rumor and stuff. I don't know… What I know is that Igor [Cavalera, Max's brother and current SEPULTURA drummer] is not on tour [with SEPULTURA] right now [Editor's Note: Igor announced earlier in the year that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son], and to me that's not SEPULTURA, man. I don't give a shit — that is not. We made the band, we created the band; it started with me and him. Andreas [Kisser, SEPULTURA guitarist] came way, way later in the picture. Paulo [Xisto Pinto Junior, SEPULTURA bassist], he got in the band 'cause he had a bass — his Dad bought a bass, [but Paulo] couldn't play. And I'm not trying to diss anybody, I'm just saying the facts — that me and Igor invented, created and carried… the Cavalera brothers carried SEPULTURA; we created it. So if it [the reunion] ever happens, it's gonna be [done] the right way for the right reason. "I kind of compare it to parachuting — I never parachuted before, I wanna parachute one day. It's like the SEPULTURA reunion. It's like parachuting. I'm not doing it tomorrow, but I'd like to do it eventually, sometime. 'Cause I know what it did to people; it changed a lot of people's lives.
