This work of Triumfall comes to me like a breath of fresh air and presents them as, most certainly, greatest hope of Serbian Black Metal scene. The band was created in Kragujevac (in year 2006.), by unification of Defluens, who was drummer of the first Sebian BM band Introitus (total cult), and members of now defunct band Veles. After one year of hard work, Triumfall decided to present themselves to public with this promo material, which is primarily made for sending to foreign labels. This promo features 3 songs ”Rise Of Pantheon”, ”Allegiance To Thy Triumfall”and ”Skies Are The Chains of Warrior”. Most bands on our scene decided to delve into pagan thematics and primitive style (which is very trendy for several years on East European scene) and by that they bury themselves in mud of copying and boredom, but Triumfall takes pretty much different course and enthrone themselves as unique in this area. These fellows chose more monumental and complex sound, where synth carries melodies and guitars are making concrete wall, making the final result of aggressive / melodic majestic Black Metal. The whole story can be presented as unification of elite bands of Norway (Emperor, Limbonic Art) and Sweden (Dissection, Dawn, Sacramentum), but by making the mature and interesting compositions and song arrangements the band has reached its own identity. The material sound pretty decent (recorded in Wild Cat studio in their hometown), front cover is minimalistic but it fits to the general vibe, and promo photos powerfully fitted into the whole. All in all, for their first appearance Triumfall left more than positive impression on me and to confirm these words – the contract for album has been signed with the label ”Forces Of Satan” which is run by Infernus of Gorgoroth, who came personally in Belgrade for a couple of days to arrange everything with guys from Triumfall. I think that it means something… Also, it is mentioned that Regain Records will do the distribution of album, but we will know more about it in the following period. Support this band, they deserve it.
