  1. M-hm. Zapravo, "The Black Waltz" mi je skroz odlican a ovi ostali malo manje.
  4. Gazeta.pl reports that two and a half years after vocalist/guitarist Adam "Nergal" Darski of Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH destroyed a Bible during a concert Poland, the national conservative Polish political party Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc (PiS) (English translation: Law and Justice) wants the band's frontman to be prosecuted for offending people's religious beliefs — a criminal offense under Polish law. Darski made headlines in his native country in September 2007 when he reportedly called the Catholic Church "the most murderous cult on the planet" during a BEHEMOTH performance in Gdynia and tore up a copy of the Bible onstage (see video below). According to BEHEMOTH bassist Tomasz "Orion" Wróblewski, the incident was by no means a spontaneous outburst. "We'd been doing that for two years on tour before it happened in Poland," he told Decibel magazine in a 2009 interview. "So, we had discussed it many times before. A BEHEMOTH show is a BEHEMOTH show, and BEHEMOTH fans are coming to a BEHEMOTH show. BEHEMOTH fans know what BEHEMOTH is about, know what the lyrics are about, and know at least a little of the philosophy behind the band. So, it's kind of surprising that there are people coming to the shows and feeling offended with what we do onstage. If such a person comes to a show, he comes with the purpose of being offended, I guess, and it shouldn't be like that. We're not offending any particular person. We're just offending the religion that we've been raised in." Ryszard Nowak, the head of the All-Polish Committee for Defense Against Sects (which was described by Decibel magazine as "little more than a one-man holy Inquisition in the style of Tipper Gore's famously sanctimonious Parents Music Resource Center of the 1980s") registered an official complaint with the authorities in Poland regarding the concert and a criminal investigation into the matter was launched in February 2008 by the Gdynia Public Prosecutor's Office, only to be terminated three months later. "He attempted to bring me to court twice, but a council before the court — I'm not sure of the name — [dismissed] the case," Darski told Decibel. "Then the guy kept on calling me a criminal in public, so what I did was I went to the court and told them I felt offended by what he did because I'm not a criminal. I'm actually as far from being a criminal as I can be. I actually consider myself a pretty important part of society. I pay big taxes, and for many people around the world, they know about Poland because of BEHEMOTH." Darski countersued — and won: "I made the guy cover all the costs of the trial; I made him apologize to me in the biggest Polish press, and I made him pay a thousand dollars to a homeless dog shelter." As of this morning (Wednesday, January 13) the case has been re-opened. Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc is arguing that BEHEMOTH's actions amount to nothing less than a "massive attack on Catholics" and wants the prosecutor to investigate whether Darski committed a crime by destroying the Bible, which professor Krzysztof Kowalik of University of Gdansk calls an object of religious worship that should be treated with respect. Gazeta.pl was unable to get a comment from Nergal as he was on tour with BEHEMOTH in North America.
  5. Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal (GORGOROTH, GOD SEED, TRELLDOM) has been cast in a musical based on the concept album "Svartediket", which was inspired by myths and legends of the lake Svartediket, located outside of Bergen, Norway. The "first-ever black metal musical" is scheduled to premiere on May 26 at Festspillene i Bergen (Bergen International Festival), an annual international music and cultural festival. The event will be held at Bergen's Den Nationale Scene (DNS) (English translation: The National Stage), one of Norway's oldest and most renowned theaters which was founded to develop Norwegian playwrights. Gaahl's casting has caused controversy in Norway, particularly as both Festspillene and Den Nationale Scene are heavily funded by the Norwegian state. Halvor Nordhaug, the Lutheran bishop in the diocese of Bjørgvin, seated in Bergen and covering parts of Western Norway, is especially concerned about Gaahl's previously published statements to the media in which he appeared to condone and support church burnings. When asked in the 2005 documentary "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" for his thoughts on the church burnings associated with the early Norwegian black metal scene, Gaahl replied, "Church burnings are, of course, a thing that I support one hundred percent. It should have been done much more, and will be done much more in the future. We have to remove every trace from what Christianity, and the semitic roots, have to offer this world." After Gaahl's involvement with the "Svartediket" musical was made official this week, the former GORGOROTH frontman once again reiterated that he views church burning as OK. "I have left my past behind, but I still have an anti-Christian attitude," Gaahl told the Bergens Tidende newspaper. "Christianity has no place in this country. As long as the church has the power it has and supports oppression, we sholudn't give the church any sympathy. Therefore I don't think it's wrong if it (church burning) happens again. The symbolic value of burning down churches is important." Responding to Gaahl's remarks, Bishop Halvor Nordhaug told the Bergens Tidende newspaper, "Gaahl displays some scary attitudes by defending church burnings. He says nothing about the fact that human lives were lost during one of the church burnings in the 1990s. I think everybody, no matter what their religious beliefs are, agrees with me that his attitudes are scary, but it could still be possible that his role at Den Nationale Scene will provide him with some kind of legitimacy, which is unfortunate."

  13. "Maiestrit", the magical and passionate re-interpretation of NEGURA BUNGET's classic album "Maiastru Sfetnic" from 2000, will be released by Lupus Lounge/Prophecy on March 15. This record contains the last studio recordings of the classic NEGURA BUNGET lineup (Hupogrammos, Sol Faur, Negru). The album will be complemented by previously unreleased acoustic versions of "A-vint In Abis" and "Plecaciunea Mortii". "Maiestrit" track listing: 01. Vremea Locului Sortit 02. In-zvicnirea Apusului 03. A-vint In Abis 04. Al Locului 05. Bruiestru 06. Plecaciunea Mortii 07. A-vint In Abis (acoustic version) 08. Plecaciunea Mortii (acoustic version) The album will be released as a digipak CD and as a deluxe artbook edition (28x28 cm, 56 pages) with plenty of NEGURA BUNGET visuals. The artbook edition will be strictly limited to 1,000 copies. Commented Negru: "I am happy to see that the last materials we worked on under the original formula of the band are now completed. "The first idea to re-record the 'Maiastru Sfetnic' album in its entirety we had soon after the original release came out in 1999. It took some years, though, before we finally started doing it, in 2007. After a lot of work, the basic elements were already recorded in April 2009 when NEGURA BUNGET parted ways with Hupogrammos and Sol Faur. It remained their task, though, to complete their work on this material. And now 'Maiestrit' is the final legacy of the NEGURA BUNGET past. "The live DVD and 2-CD, entitled 'Focul Viu' (English: 'Living Fire'), was recorded in January 2008 at a concert in Bucharest. After a complex process of audio and video mix, the 90-minute concert is soon ready to be released. Beside the actual concert, available in stereo and 5.1 surround mix, you'll find on the DVD a slideshow with concert pictures as well as a newly mixed re-arrangement of all NEGURA BUNGET videos up to date. "These two materials are the last materials we started working on in the old NEGURA BUNGET lineup that featured Sol Faur and Hupogrammos, and although we completed with them apart from the band, all belong to the same spirit. These two materials mark the end of an era, and the beginning of a new one. May it be a meaningful moment for everybody." Added Hupogrammos: "A chapter is closing in our lives. Sol Faur and I are currently working on the last details of the final episode of a challenging experience that, for 15 years, took us on a path of musical and mystical development. "Our intention was to re-enbody the purest black metal album we ever made and to do that in an impeccable manner, as black metal requires impeccability. The dream of such high intent was not entirely fulfilled, but the result of our endeavour was materialized as 'Maiestrit'. "We started to work on this album two years ago, and until the moment the band split we had recorded most of the electric guitars and the drums. Everything else was performed and composed after July 2009 (when we split up) by Sol Faur and myself, including the two bonus tracks that were especially composed and re-shaped for this album. "In our eyes, the journey of NEGURA BUNGET ends with this last album. Anyone caring about and searching for new forms of expression in music is invited to keep an eye on our two new bands, DORDEDUH and SUNSET IN THE 12TH HOUSE."
