o kontrer, maj mejt, o kontrer... retko gde se iznese negativna kritika GR-a i gde dodje do toga, odmah nastane dzihad ujedinjenih novokomponovanih opeth, slipknot, chimaira ili devildriver fanova... plus nekih par prezivelih kao sto si ti ako pazljivo procitas, pre nego sto ti se zapali vatra oko usiju, dosta je pozitivnog receno u iznesenim komentarima. i ja tu nemam nista protiv, apsolutno se slazem. ali se itekako slazem i sa onim negativnim. o tome se radi. ti si odmah skontao da je to pljuvaza i proglasio da ti novinari nemaju kredibilitet ili da pisu neargumentovano. iz procitanog bih ja zakljucio apsolutno suprotno. a taj za prog definiciju ima poentu.... poentu koja se moze dovesti u vezu bas sa GR-om, ali ne sa still life-om. word.

ma sere krang kao da je pojeo 10 hamburgera kod nislije... cim neko (sasvim zasluzno ako mene pitas) iznese negativnu kritiku GR-a, odmah poteze tu sazvakanu pricu. najlakse je reci da je lako biti oponent u masi, a sta ako ti ljudi slusaju opeth bas od 1996. npr, (sto i verujem da je tako)? licno znam 7-8 njih samo u mom okruzenju koji su posle BWP-a okrenuli ledja iznervirani daljim razvojem ovog benda.

nisam ni ocekivao da ti prihvatis da postoji neko ko drugacije od tebe misli... kakogod, postovane recenice su po meni nesto najrealnije sto je ikada ispisano o ovom albumu i stojim iza toga. danas sam, posle finalna dva slusanja, doneo konacan sud da je GR najlosiji opeth album. moje misljenje je najblize prvoj od gornjih recenzija, mada se slazem sa svim.

When one reaches a point in evolution where there are no new ideas or areas of expansion open to exploration; is it then the next logical step to cannibalize past incarnations of form? Is the proper term for such behavior then, not evolution, but parody or simulacrum? Who really are you the artist kidding with tracks like “Atonement”? When did the definition of progressive expand to include pilfered vague semblances of obscure 70’s artists? Eight albums deep the arc of creative output can now be clearly seen as having peaked somewhere between Still Life and Blackwater Park, placing this band squarely at the end of a perfect bell curve. Fulltime keyboardists who favor bigtop circus organ tone can not hide the fact that what began on Orchid as meandering and abstruse has come full circle and returned to a supreme focal deficit. The fifth year in the second millennia of this current era sees Opeth producing a flaccid and convoluted hour long album easily distilled and refined into twenty minutes of worthwhile riff work; suitable for background noise and sleep preparation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The surfacing of a couple audio samples early on left a bad taste in the mouths of many who claimed that the band’s signing to Roadrunner Records would spell the demise of the Opeth we all know, but I am sure that it was a mere coincidence that Ghost Reveries turned out to be less relevant than hoped for. They had a chance to take an assumingly greater budget than ever granted before and run with it, but only end up tripping over their own eagerness as far as I’m concerned. Being as huge of an Opeth fan as I am, it is almost certain that I will still be purchasing Ghost Reveries, however, I am sure it will probably never equal the rotation of Orchid, Morningrise, and Blackwater Park. Knowing that Opeth is a band that demands a patient ear, only time will tell if my gut reaction proves to be an everlasting estimation of an album gone wrong or a hasty judgment of yet another masterpiece. Until then, what I had figured would be a year end candidate for my Top Ten list, has been bumped off the charts by the competition. Such a pity! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Really, Ghost Reveries has much more filler than most other discs in the Opeth catalog. The former was a disappointment for me, overall, though I expect to revisit the album from time to time. Still, I think I’ll clutch Morningrise, My Arms, Your Hearse and Still Life for all my Opeth-related needs. One, er, two word review: all right. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- host Reveries probably isn’t the album you were hoping to get from Opeth, but is proof that an album can be both disappointing and enjoyable. Despite some occasional misfirings, it is difficult to criticize the quality of the album. Compared to the majority of releases, a 4.5 for songwriting seem a little harsh, but is fair considering this album is a little below the bar set by their back catalog, which are all 5’s and above in my book. Opeth are in a situation quite similar to where Iron Maiden were when they released Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Although some fans had jumped ship before that time, most considered the band’s back catalog rock solid. At the time, Seventh Son… was considered by many to be a stylistic and creative letdown. History remembers that album differently now, although most would say it’s still not the band’s best work. Over time, Ghost Reveries will grow on some listeners that may be on the fence. If nothing else, it will provide endless fodder for debate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ouch!

(1997:717) In spite of coming from a 'rebel' poet, this particular song is not rebellious in spirit; it rather expresses a sense of wonder and power at what varied and opposite matters are being made to happen around us all the times by God. This is to drop a hint right at the beginning about how variously everything can be looked at, and how a sense of power can be there in us even about whom we conceive to be any kind of a `Child' playing with dolls.

@ krang dobre liste! ja sam stavio samo ne-metal u potpis, a metal ce biti u bv-u @ marcoman da, ali od ovih b92 kapiram da sve imaju spotove. ili barem neke karikirane. i nije bilo bas tolerantnije, skoro isto... na mtvu je bilo 1. nirvana, 2. peter gabriel (sledgehammer), 3. sinead o' connor, a na vh-1 1. nirvana, 2. rem... jeremy je bio u top10 na obe liste, to se secam...

lista se ne razlikuje previse od one koju su skorije pravili gledaoci mtv-a, pa vh-1-a.

dobro, preterivanje je ocekivano... imamo dva smithsa, sto verovatno ni englezi ne bi izabrali, a nema smoke on the water, sledgehammer, house of the rising sun, by my side....

prvo su valjda ljudi predlagali po tri pesme, a onda je komisija izvrsila odabir 100, pa se u okviru te skupine vrsilo glasanje.

nije tacno da se tu skupljaju 80% ocena sa sajtova koji recenziraju samo indie rock. stavise, to je bas netacno. pogledaj obe liste, i pogledaj koje sve medije metacritic prati, pa ces videti. washington post je objavio recenziju dillingera. sto nije uradio za opeth? kao i mojo... kao jos jedno pedeset. sad su u roadrunneru, svaka ih shusha slusa... a ako sufjan nema dobre melodije, a molina ima, onda se plasim da nisi prao usi odavno.

i probaj da razgranicis pojmove "precenjenost" i "ne svidja mi se". to sto te sigur nerviraju i sto ih ne volis, nikako ne znaci da su precenjeni. ni ja ne volim ni my morning jacket, sleater-kinney ili kraftwerk, pa ipak kapiram da su zasluzeno gde jesu, jer ih milioni ljudi vole. edit: death cab for cutie - soul meets body (pesma mog zivota) upravo spot na metropolisu

stvarno si glup na kub, metacritic ne favorizuje nikoga, vec skuplja ocene. kako to moze da se zove favorizovanje?? kad ti se tvoj opeth nadje u dvadesetini bitnih muzickih medija, bice i on tu. a komentar precenjenosti sufjana mi je jednostavno ispod renomea. vrati se za koju godinu na ovu stranu.
