CARPATHIAN FOREST: New Song, Album Artwork Posted Online Norwegian black metallers CARPATHIAN FOREST will release their new album, "Fuck You All!!!!", on May 22 via Season of Mist. The CD will be available in a limited "metalpak" edition and regular jewel case. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "The Frostbitten Woodlands of Norway", "Submit to Satan!!!", "Start Up the Incinerator (Here Comes Another Useless Fool)" and "Shut Up, There Is No Excuse To Live..." As previously reported, CARPATHIAN FOREST and KEEP OF KALESSIN will be teaming up for a European tour beginning on April 22 in Aarhus, Denmark.

Austrian Black Metallers ABIGOR Are Back! According to the Austrian black metal webzine BlackMetal.at, Peter Kubik (a.k.a. Virus 666) has put his HELLBOUND and ST. LUCIFER projects to rest and has reformed the acclaimed Austrian black metal outfit ABIGOR. "There're different reasons for this decision, and some might hate me about it, but I give a shit on them," Kubik is quoted as saying. "I know, I wrote that I am pissed by the black-metal scene as I split ABIGOR back in 2003, and still I am, but maybe this 'not being involved' made me thirsty again. However, I don’t feel the need to justify my point of view anymore. Accept it or not, ABIGOR is back! Currently it's me and Lukas Lindenberger on drums, but T.T., Thurisaz and Silenius are still invited to join the band again, time will tell. Don't expect a rise of the 'old' ABIGOR, it's 2006. THERION's CHRISTOFER JOHNSSON Retires From Singing Christofer Johnsson, founder, songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist for the symphonic Swedish group THERION, has announced today via the band's official web site that he will be retiring from vocal duties. The following is an excerpt from his post: "As was announced at the Metal Mania festivals, I am going to retire from vocals. The reasons for this are two: One is that I feel it's not fun to sing anymore (even though I have enjoyed playing the old songs on guitar). [My] voice is getting weaker over the years and I experienced problems at the end of the U.S./Canada tour. The problem isn't only getting older, but rather that we basically never rehearse as a band and therefore, I don't keep my throat 'warm.' It simply doesn't work to not sing for half a year and then go on tour for two months and shout every evening. It used to work when I was younger, but now I feel it's not comfortable anymore and when it doesn't feel right, it's definitely time to stop. "The second reason is that we would like to stop playing old songs, anyway. By old I mean 'Lepaca Klifffoth' and older. We are now working on our 13th studio album and it is getting harder and harder to choose which songs to play live. The number of 'classics' — songs that we more or less must play — is growing all the time and we don't want to end up like one of those bands where you know beforehand 95% for sure what songs that are going to be played. We want to be able to have space to play a couple of unexpected songs each new tour. We, of course, realize that many fans will miss those old brutal songs, but we are convinced that those fans also will prefer to hear something new each time from the Theli album and onwards. "The ProgPower festival in England will be the final show where I do vocals on stage. This will be our 106th and final show supporting 'Lemuria'/'Sirius B'. We will not be on stage again until 2007. I have planned a special surprise for this festival (not even the other band members know it), so don't miss this festival if you live in the U.K.!" MERCENARY Part Ways With Bassist, Seek Replacement Danish metallers MERCENARY haqve parted ways with bassist Henrik "Kral" Andersen. "What might come as a big shock to everyone outside the band has however been apparent to the band for some time," the group write on their web site. "That said, we feel it’s important to state very clearly that we part ways as the best of friends and we all wish Kral the very best in his future life and pursuits. Kral will always be a part of the MERCENARY family and we thank him first of all for joining us all up in the band through the years, as well as for the lots and lots of cool, fun and unforgettable times. Kral is expected to give a statement shortly. The split has in no way affected the recording of the new album since the rest of the band have been working on the new material during the last couple of months in Kral's absence. All vocals (including shouts and screams) on the upcoming album will be done by Mikkel who is also responsible for lyrics this time. Furthermore the split will not affect the upcoming touring schedule in any way. "As a consequence of Kral leaving the band we are searching for a new bass player/shouter/screamer. We have to state that we need a person that is able to do both and are not looking for two new members. TO/DIE/FOR Begin Recording New Album: Photos Available Finnish goth-metallers TO/DIE/FOR have entered the studio to begin recording their fifth album, tentatively due in October. Drums, bass and guitars are being recorded by Samu Oittinen, while J. J. Nippala will take care of the keyboards, vocals and other "strange sonics," according to a posting on the band's web site.
