Mislite o tome. Dinkić je več rekao da ukida državnu penziju.

Elizabeth Anka Vajagic - Stand with the stillness of this day

With this debut recording, Elizabeth Anka Vajagic sets her vocals against a backdrop led by ragged guitars, moving from harrowing, dry-as-a-bone intimacy ("With Hopes Lost", "Iceland") to reverb-soaked torch-song balladry ("Around Here", "Sleep With Dried Up Tears"), and the odd explosive noise freak-out along the way ("Where You Wonder"). Vajagic's voice and lyrics are uniquely powerful, with points of comparison ranging from Patti Smith, Diamanda Galas and Siouxsie Sioux to Hope Sandoval and Lisa Germano.

Through much cross-pollination with the local noise/improv scene, Elizabeth has assembled a fine cast of players to add focused textures and arrangements to the seven tracks on this debut record, making for an intense cycle of songs peppered with skittering drums, contrebasse, cello, harmonium, piano, bowed cymbals, and oud. Guest players include Chris Burns and Simon Fazakerly (Crackpot, Steak 72) on 2nd guitars, Beckie Foon (Silver Mt. Zion, Esmerine) on cello, Michel Langevin (Voivod) on drums, Fluffy Erskine (Molasses, Hrsta) on musical saw, Sam Shalabi (The Shalabi Effect) on oud and Efrim (gybe, Silver Mt. Zion) on piano, harmonium, guitar and backing vocals. The album was recorded at the Hotel2Tango in Montreal by Howard Bilerman.

1. With hopes lost (8:23)

evo ga:

Elizabeth Anka Vajagic - Nostalgia/Pain [2005/Constellation/mp3/192]

album art: hxxp://www.cstrecords.com/img/eav/035CDcov.jpg

Elizabeth Anka Vajagic follows up last year's debut full-length with two long-form incantations channeled through the full range of her blistering, astoundingly intimate voice. As the title suggests, Vajagic cuts deep into a couple of timeless themes, with both title pieces featuring extended instrumental and noise passages, revealing the spacious, searching ears of her improv-steeped band. "Nostalgia" and "Pain" were both recorded during the Stand With The Stillness Of This Day (cst028) sessions, and allow players like Sam Shalabi (guitar), Michel Langevin (drums) and Fluffy Erskine (bowed objects) to stretch out and skronk. The EP closes with a 4-track home recording done in dead of winter, at the end of 2004.

These are chilling vocal lamentations framed by sometimes ghostly, sometimes galloping sonic texture from musicians who've played in Molasses, Shalabi Effect and Voivod, among other bands. From quivering falsetto to guttural glissando, Vajagic's voice gets a complete workout on these long, immersive songs. A pure, direct and unflinching emotional document that completes the song cycle begun with Stillness... and will wring the hearts of fans and newcomers alike.

Recorded at Montreal's Hotel2Tango by Howard Bilerman, the Nostalgia/Pain EP comes packaged in Constellation's 'old style' packaging, with a thick, deep purple cardstock foil embossed in metallic copper-green ink for both CD and LP formats. The LP is Direct Metal Mastered at Abbey Road and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

Track Listing

1. Nostalgia (17:17)

2. Pain (12:41)

Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat - If The Sky Falls, We Shall Catch Larks

review:

How can you resist a band name like Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat? And with a name like that, what can one possibly expect musically? Well, surprisingly the music here manages to conjure up the same sort of dark confusional forboding that the name hints at. Forbidden? Taboo? Some sort of alchemical majick? Some sort of witchy incantation? Why else would one...um, well you know. On If The Sky Falls, We Shall Catch Larks, KTAOABC, the project of a young Belgian musician and instrument builder named Stef Heeren, unfurls a gorgeously dark, mesmerizing chunk of minimal, melodic, brooding, lilting and lovely doom folk. Harrowing and brooding, falling somewhere between the apocalyptic ur-folk of Current 93, the rickety, swampy biblical dirge of Woven Hand, the brooding acoustic bombast of later Swans, seventies pagan psych-folk (Comus, Incredible String Band, etc.) and even some of the strident prostletyzing of New Model Army. Very spare in its instrumentation and structure, aggressively strummed acoustic guitars underpinning ultra dramatic and slightly venomous vocals, occasional bells and strings and piano, subtle cooing background vocals, all very repetitive and hypnotic, churning in a thick fog of emotional turmoil and spiritual unease. Dark and droning, intense and intensely fervent, slipping from loose slithery balladeering to fiery and impassioned swells of soul-laid-bare sermonizing. Really quite amazing. Fans of C93, Nick Cave, Death In June, Comus, Swans, Der Blutharsch, Richard Youngs, Woven Hand and 16HP will certainly swoon, but this should definitely appeal to fans of all things emotional and dark, folky and forboding. Beautifully packaged in a minimally screenprinted fold over cardboard sleeve.

i pojavio se ovde i novi oceansize.

Oceansize - Everyone Into Position

review:

I fell out of love with The Rock a while back. Not the wrestler-turned-actor, you understand, the musical format. I gave up on it when the meatheads took over the asylum – wave after wave of comedy nu-metal beards and identical sounds, bland punk rock and Britrock stragglers. Oceansize’s new album is the first new album that I would classify as ‘rock’ that I’ve really approved of in a while. It’s bigger and wider in scope than most rock acts out there at the moment though – Kaiser Chiefs this ain’t. Then again, Mogwai this also ain’t. Certainly, Music For A Nurse has a fair wash of almost My Bloody Valentine-ish guitars, and the average track length is closer to six minutes than five, but this is accessible, hook-y stuff.

The opening three tracks all purvey something of the brooding basslines that thread throughout the record, and Mike Vennart’s almost Cornell-esque vocals. Soundgarden’s swirling, dreamy passages drop sharply into something approaching the crunching rhythms that James Hetfield would be proud of, and it’s as well to bring up bands of that stature now: they’re not known for making a minimal noise. Oceansize are the probably the most aptly-named band since Queen – they sound absolutely huge. I mean, vast. Probably something to do with that is the production team involving past collaborators with Doves and Coldplay. Not as populist as either, nevertheless the bold sense of scale evident in these bands will out, especially in the monolithic final pairing of You Can’t Keep A Bad Man Down and Ornament/The Last Wrongs.

The band describe the final three tracks (including the previous, Mine Host) as a “church suite”. There’s organ in there, at least. Mine Host progresses as a slow-burner, but is actually the shortest track on here at 4:10. The real gems lie in the bombastic You Can’t Keep... and the dramatic, choral closer. There’s a pleasingly abrupt stop in the former, which heralds the second part of the song, an almost angelic interlude before the world appears to crash down around your ears in a hail of guitars and drum rolls.

Ornament/The Last Wrongs is another builder, again with the abrupt shifts from gentle, soothing niceties to beefy, jarringly overdriven breaks. It all falls into context when the main vocals come in. I hate to compare it to Beethoven’s 9th, but like that semi-mythical moment you don’t really expect choral vocals to come in at this point, and it brings the track together for another build. The church suite ends as it started, on fading ecclesiastical organs.

It’s never as seemingly free-form as, say, Mogwai, but there’s an admirable restraint all the same: where they could have gone completely overboard, the song is still the central focus. There’s an intangible sense of grandeur throughout that many bands fail to achieve, a fairy-dust sprinkling of epic-ness, if you will. They certainly have ideas big enough, and its not always a comfortable, easy listen. So more power to them: the world has been lacking since Pink Floyd went their separate ways... 8/10
