CANDLEMASS vocalist Messiah Marcolin contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET today (April 28) to reveal that he has left the Swedish doomsters and that it's 100 percent definite that he will not return. "We could not agree on how to do the new album," he said, but would not further elaborate on his sudden departure. Marcolin spent the early months of 2006 recovering from an infection of the vocal cords and was ordered by his doctor to wait until this summer before resuming singing. CANDLEMASS recorded four new songs with producer Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD) in late February at the new Polar studios in Stockholm, Sweden. At the time, the group's bassist/songwriter Leif Edling said of the material, "The songs are pretty much in the same vein as the stuff on the [self-titled 2005] reunion album, maybe a bit darker." VICIOUS RUMORS drummer Larry Howe has joined W.A.S.P. as the replacement for Stet Howland. "[Larry] auditioned a few weeks ago and Blackie [Lawless, W.A.S.P. mainman] called him back and told him he had the gig," VICIOUS RUMORS bassist Dave Starr said. "He flies to Los Angeles this weekend to start work with the band for the new tour dates that start soon. "As far as Larry and VICIOUS RUMORS goes, we have a break now with no tour dates while Geoff [Thorpe, VICIOUS RUMORS mainman] finishes the new [VR] CD so the timing is good for everyone," continued Dave. "Larry says Blackie wants him to do the tour and then what happens next will be figured out down the line. Larry remains a member of VICIOUS RUMORS. I still want Larry to do the WILDESTARR CD with my wife and I, and I hope he can still do that at some point later this year. "This is great news for Larry, and I gave him congrats on the phone. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved."

Century Media Records has set a July 24 European release date for the new FIREWIND album, entitled "Allegiance". The album's first single, "Falling to Pieces", will be released June 19 in Greece. It will include an edited version of the title track, the non-album track "Demon Nights" and the BLACKFOOT cover "Teenage Idol" (previously unreleased). dap Legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (DIO, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH) has confirmed to Greg Prato of Billboard.com that he is collaborating once more with BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi. "There's a box set that's going to be released, called 'Black Sabbath: The Dio Years'," he said. "The proposal was to write a couple of songs to be included. I have gotten together with Tony — we worked together for about a week in England. It went very well." Another rumor that comes up often in metal circles is a beckoning RAINBOW reunion. "The beauty of that is that people still care after all these years," Dio said. "That's cool, but I've tried to say 'No' as many times as I possibly could. If there is a RAINBOW reunion it will not include me." DIO will begin work on a new studio album this summer. "I'd like to make it a quicker album — our last album was more medium tempo," Dio told Billboard.com. "I always hear everybody gripe and moan about that, so I think we'll go for some fast ones this time. That's the plan, but knowing me, I'll probably end up in the doldrums, and you'll have a lot of slow things on it." Pocheo i da vrishti i da peva bash sa nekim stilom hehe...sve u svemu vokal je(pored majka riffova naravski) jedan od pluseva albuma... NEVERMORE bass player and one of the founding members Jim Sheppard will soon be undergoing a minor procedure for Crohn's Disease, a condition he's managed for over 15 years. Unable to perform with the band during the first part of their upcoming tour with IN FLAMES, Sheppard is expected to rejoin the group in Spokane, WA May 18. Filling in for Sheppard will be longtime friend James MacDonough (ex-MEGADETH, ICED EARTH). NEVERMORE, who just wrapped up a series of dates with ARCH ENEMY, will be performing at several European summer festivals, including Rock Hard, Sweden Rock and Wacken Open Air before supporting DISTURBED across Europe this fall. After their touring activity the band will be taking time off to write the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed album "This Godless Endeavor".
