Metallica
Sanctuary Records are re-packaging the "Metallic-era" albums into one double set billed "Full Metal Garage - The Songs That Drove Metallica" for release on June 26. Originally conceived by Rockdetector.com's Garry Sharpe-Young, all of these original tracks are available together, at last, on one double CD, "Full Metal Garage – The Songs That Drove Metallica". This album — fully approved by METALLICA — features artists such as BLACK SABBATH, MOTÖRHEAD, MISFITS, DIAMOND HEAD and THIN LIZZY. It's a genuinely inspirational collection of music and when you listen it's easy to see how this group of talented bands has influenced the lives and music of METALLICA. Says Garry Sharpe-Young: "It's well known that METALLICA drew their inspiration from many of the NWoBHM bands, classic '70s rockers and British punk, and they themselves have been quick to honour these acts with their infamous 'Garage Days' sets and a swathe of B-sides over the years. It suddenly dawned on me one day, whilst working on album projects for the likes of SAVAGE and HOLOCAUST, that although fans knew of these tracks, most had never heard the originals. I then set wheels in motion to compile all of them into one collection. I can remember talking to DIAMOND HEAD's Sean Harris who told me that when they supported METALLICA at the Milton Keynes festival they got booed when they opened with 'Am I Evil' because the METALLICA fans thought they were doing a cover version! Also, perhaps the most direct inspiration for the band, Mansfield's SAVAGE, never got their justice by way of an official METALLICA cover but the band included a track on their first demos and used to play 'Let It Loose' live, neglecting to tell the audience it was a cover! Somehow, history got a bit skewed simply because METALLICA got so big. Here, you can hear all the originals, such as BUDGIE's 'Breadfan', which METALLICA used as a set opener for a huge number of shows, or Scotland's highly influential HOLOCAUST, SWEET SAVAGE's 'Killing Time' and JAGUAR from Bristol. Being a well-known obsessor over historical detail, it was a fun job putting these tracks together and, most importantly, getting some of these lesser known bands some well-overdue recognition." METALLICA have dominated, changed and inspired the musical landscape since they burst onto the metal scene with the release of their debut album "Kill 'Em All" in 1983. The truly innovative and fresh approach from the San Francisco four-piece has materially changed the music we listen to today. Credited with creating thrash metal, METALLICA have always celebrated the music that has influenced them and have made previous homilies to the bands and musicians on the albums "Garage Days" revisited EP and the double album "Garage Inc." "Full Metal Garage – The Songs That Drove Metallica" track listing: Disc One: 01. DISCHARGE – "Free Speech For The Dumb" 02. DIAMOND HEAD – "It's Electric" 03. BLACK SABBATH – "Sabbra Cadabra" 04. MISFITS – "Die Die My Darling" 05. NICK CAVE – "Loverman" 06. MERCYFUL FATE – "Curse Of The Pharaohs" 07. MERCYFUL FATE – "Evil" 08. BLUE ÖYSTER CULT – "Astronomy" 09. Nevermore
NEVERMORE bass player and one of the founding members Jim Sheppard will soon be undergoing a minor procedure for Crohn's Disease, a condition he's managed for over 15 years. Unable to perform with the band during the first part of their upcoming tour with IN FLAMES, Sheppard is expected to rejoin the group in Spokane, WA May 18. Filling in for Sheppard will be longtime friend James MacDonough (ex-MEGADETH, ICED EARTH). NEVERMORE, who just wrapped up a series of dates with ARCH ENEMY, will be performing at several European summer festivals, including Rock Hard, Sweden Rock and Wacken Open Air before supporting DISTURBED across Europe this fall. After their touring activity the band will be taking time off to write the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed album "This Godless Endeavor".

after all...the end. DIO!

Beyond Fear
Solo projekat Ripper Owensa, sasvim nepotreban IMHO Skoro su bili predgrupa Anthraxu na evroturneji.. Sasvim prosechna mjuza..heavy do zla boga, distorzija bije..a provalio sam da me Ripper malo smara (barem ovde) jer lik bre svuda peva isto..u svim bendovima tj. Od boljih pesama na (za sada jedinom) albumu tu su Scream Machine i Words Of Wisdom.. Koj je slushao nek ostavi mishljenje

Celtic Frost

Tatiana Godarska of Imhotep webzine recently conducted an interview with MAYHEM drummer Jan Axel Von Blomberg (a.k.a. Hellhammer). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow: Imhotep: If "Grand Declaration of War" was written [from] hearts then explain to me, why did you return with "Chimera" to the style of your first album? Hellhammer: "Because we wanted to sell more!" Imhotep: Can I write it like that in the interview? Hellhammer: "Yes. Now, after some time, we can say we hate this album. Of course, there are particular elements which are great. In the end, it didn't work out even with the sales. Therefore we decided in next record to follow our hearts and to listen to our personal development." Imhotep: What musical intention will your next album, "Ordo Ab Chao", have? Hellhammer: "It will be more straightforward, more in-your-face, probably more brutal. Not straightforward in the meaning of simpler. On the contrary, it will contain short songs but more complicated style. . . Recording is planned for September 2006. We didn't decide for any studio yet but it also might be possible that we will use 2-3 studios. When I recorded the drums for DIMMU BORGIR, I liked the sound of the drums in Abyss studio. I am considering using it just for drums." Imhotep: You also announced that Maniac [vocals] is not in the band anymore and Attila [is] back. What's the story behind it? Hellhammer: "Maniac stepped out of the band due to his health. He was the one [who] was in the band, then out and then again in the band and again out. We had the possibility to use somebody unknown or also somebody known but why not hunting down Attila again in Hungary?! We have always been in contact with Attila. His voice also experienced some development. It is not exactly Attila from 'De Mysteriis…'." Imhotep: In the meantime, you re-recorded "Stormblåst" with DIMMU BORGIR. As you personally told me in Prague, you are going to be the drummer on their next album. Will you tour afterwards with DIMMU too? Hellhammer: "DIMMU, the band known for drummers coming in and being told to leave — Nicholas, Reno, etc. I am not going to be the next one, so I am not going to be a permanent member. Joke, of course. I often hang out with the guys from DIMMU, they are great [guys]. They asked me and I saw it as a great opportunity. They are mortified [about] calling their music black metal. For me, if they see their music as black metal, it is fine with me. We all have a different definition for many other things. The co-operation with them is enjoyable and I will be the one recording drums for their new album and of course, touring with them afterwards." http://www.imhotep.fi/en/index.php?option=...mid=135&lang=en
