  4. MOTÖRHEAD have set "Kiss of Death" as the title of their new album, tentatively due on August 29 via Sanctuary Records. +++ MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister has made the Maxim magazine's Top 10 list of "Living Legends of Sex." In the June 2006 of the magazine, the MOTÖRHEAD singer "explains what makes him irresistible to women." Lemmy reveals his perfect woman and if he's gotten lucky. Maxim: You popped your cherry when you were 18. How'd it happen? Lemmy: "On a beach. In the rain. It was miserable, and that sand gets everywhere, you know." Maxim: And since then you've scored 2,000 women… Lemmy: "I never said 2,000. I said 1,000. It's probably 1,200 or so now. I've been at it a long time and I was never married, so there hasn't been any time off." Maxim: Does a guy have to be good looking to impress the gals? Lemmy: "It's not so much looks as it is making them laugh. Chicks don't give a fuck about handsome in the final analysis. It's because they take the makeup off every day, and they know how deep handsome is." Maxim: You have a reputation for being considerate with the ladies, which isn't the case with many rock stars. What's the most unchivalrous thing you've observed? Lemmy: "I saw the whole Ozzy Osbourne crew go through a chick once. But she was up for it, so what the fuck do you do? If a guy fucks nine women in an evening, you'd say he was a hero. But if a chick does it, you'd say she was a slut. I don't believe it, and it's not fair. Women have multiple orgasms, which we don't have. And yet we're the ones tomcatting all over the place just so we can have our moment." Maxim: Have you regretted any of your conquests after the deed was done? Lemmy: "It's like the saying: I've never gone to bed with an ugly chick, but I've woken up with a few. Our lighting guy has a funny one. There were these two chicks who followed us around in Germany. We called them the Monsters of Rock. One of them had three teeth, the other one was bald, and they were both fat. One night he called one of them, desperate and drunk, and he went to bed with her. When he woke up he hid in the bathroom until she'd gone." Maxim: Who's your perfect woman, and have you done her yet? Lemmy: "Raquel Welch, Halle Berry, and no and no. Oh, and Janet Jackson. I haven't slept with her either." Lemmy legenda a chekamo i Kiss Of Death!

Guitarists Larry Barragan and Rob Trevino from the "Remnants Of War"-era lineup of HELSTAR have revealed to LivingForMetal.com in a recent interview that the band is officially back together and that plans exist to record new material. The group's current lineup is completed by singer James Rivera (also in VICIOUS RUMORS, KILLING MACHINE), bassist Jerry Abarca and drummer Russell DeLeon. An excerpt from the chat follows: LivingForMetal.com: So would you say HELSTAR is officially back and you plan to record a new album and tour behind it? And what type of time frame do you anticipate that to happen? Larry: "Yeah, we are a band again. The plan is to record but there again you need a label to do that. Touring, I think will be sporadic. Rob and I make our money and support our families in the corporate world; really all of us have day gigs that quite frankly pay the bills better than anything we could make on the road. So when you hear of us doing a show you know we really wanted to do it because we are basically taking vacation time to play them." Rob: "We are officially a band again. It is up to the people, the fans, and the labels whether or not we continue on. If the interest is there, we will continue to record and do some touring. For me, I would really like to see us put out at least one more 'official' HELSTAR release for the fans who've asked for it all of these years." LivingForMetal.com: I know it's in the early stages but what can we expect to hear on the new HELSTAR album? How are the songs taking shape and how has your playing styles and skills changed over the years? Larry: "I don't practice as much as I used to but I was never really a shredder, you know. I've always tried to select my notes and make my solos interesting; that hasn't changed. I think my picking is a little bit better now. I think the new HELSTAR album will find us sounding a bit heavier but we won't forget our neoclassical roots." Rob: "I think it will sound like HELSTAR, only updated and with better production. I'd like to think that we can make something that will sound as heavy and dark as we know the band can sound. There will definitely be more aggression at times, but melody as well." DYING FETUS have posted the following message on their official web site: "DYING FETUS are glad to announce Duane Timlin as the new drummer. It's been a long year of searching, but we wanted to move forward in the certainty of having the right person for the group. Duane joins Mike Kimball [guitar], Sean Beasley [bass and vocals], and original member John Gallagher [guitar and vocals], to complete our four-piece lineup. "The band were already friends with Duane, and even toured with him when he played drums for DIVINE EMPIRE, who supported DYING FETUS on our 2003 summer headlining tour.

  17. Legendary Swedish doomsters CANDLEMASS have posted the following message on their official web site: "Hello doomlovers!! Not everything is clouded in the C-MASS camp. The band is currently recording the new album with full force, again in Stockholm's Polar Studios — the new place. Ten killer doom metal tracks are being put on tape (actually computer) right now. Leif [Edling, bassist/main songwriter] has just finished his bass overdubs and now it is Lars [Johansson, guitar] turn to add his magic to the growing CANDLEMASS pallet of doom. Rhythm guitars, solos, harmony guitars — maybe three days in total. By Sunday the basic tracks shall be finished. Then — in a smaller (and cheaper) studio — some keyboards, rough mixes, maybe more guitar overdubs, to make the eighth CANDLEMASS studio recording as good as possible. And folks, it's a concept album. It is about the road to ruin in the modern society. Death, destruction and suicide = pure doom!!! If Messiah [Marcolin] will sing on the album? The band certainly hope so!"

VICIOUS RUMORS drummer Larry Howe has commented on W.A.S.P.'s decision to hire another skinskman for their current tour after he went down for an audition and was allegedly told that he had the gig. W.A.S.P. initially announced guitarist Mark Zavon (STEPHEN PEARCY, 40 CYCLE HUM) and drummer Mike Dupke (HAIR OF THE DOG, ERIC SARDINAS) as the latest additions to the band's touring lineup. Less than a week later, however, Zavon was already out of the picture and the group had re-hired Doug Blair, who had previous stints with W.A.S.P. in 1992 and 2001. In a May 19, 2006 posting on the VICIOUS RUMORS message board, Howe wrote, "Yeah this shit is just gettin wackier....it's funny how when I went down there two weeks ago, eager to get to work with a band I had been listening to for 20 years, totally jazzed at the thought of being in the band... I was told that we were going to record a CD, and get ready for the tour, all in two weeks... That's crazy! But I thought, 'Well, he's the boss, he must have something up his sleeve'... So I learned all those songs. I fucking ate, drink, slept, and fucked to W.A.S.P. music. I really wanted to have some fun with this and be very prepared for the set, but when I got there with all my drums, I was asked to set up half a kit and play with brushes to go over new song ideas. No talk of getting a live set together ever ensued. The most I ever played while there was when I practiced on my own. The only rehearsing that ever happened was just a few ideas for new songs, [and] even those were mere sketches. There were no full arrangements ready for recording anywhere to be found (I had to play very soft as well). After three days of that, with never any kind of full rehearsal, he sent me home. "This shall remain a strange page in my book! But like I said, at least I got paid."

  21. Live-Metal.net recently conducted an interview with ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott. An excerpt from the interview follows. Live-Metal: Would there ever be any chance of a CARCASS reunion? Michael Amott: "There's nothing discussed and those guys have kind of moved away from this music, where I'm the retard. I'm still doing this. I'm still growling and playing ridiculous guitar parts for a living. They kind of moved on and did different things. I have a hard time visualizing that. I can't really see it. I can't really see us on a stage together." Live-Metal: I wouldn't want ARCH ENEMY to break up or anything for a CARCASS reunion. Michael Amott: "No, and I love playing with these guys. These guys are some of the best players in the business. It would be hard to just give that up. I would do a CARCASS reunion if it was done right and if it was done for maybe a tour only. It would have to be soon before everybody dies." Live-Metal: So I guess you didn't have any involvement in Jeff [Walker]'s solo album coming out ["Welcome to Carcass Cuntry"], the country-metal album or whatever it is? Michael Amott: "He's got a very twisted mind, so I'm very interested to hear it. But from what I hear, it's not metal. I'm just happy that he's getting back out there. He's actually playing bass now for a band called BRUJERIA. I think Jeff Walker, he's a very talented person. He has a very talented way with words and artwork ideas. He's a very creative person. I always thought it was weird that he didn't do more music after CARCASS. I always thought he was a very creative person. But it's cool that he's getting back into it. As for a CARCASS reunion, I don't know. Do you think people would be excited by that?" Live-Metal: Well I know "Heartwork" is probably one of my favorite— Michael Amott: "Yeah, I was talking to Gary Holt from EXODUS yesterday and he was like, 'We were way into 'Heartwork' when that came out.' We had no idea that EXODUS, kind of an established band that we grew up listening to — it was unthinkable that they would be into what we were doing. I think afterwards it's become bigger than what it was at the time." Live-Metal: I think what you guys did then is what all these bands are trying to do now. Michael Amott: "Yeah. It's weird. I was part of that, so I can't really have an objective point of view. It was just something that happened at the time." Read the entire interview at www.live-metal.net.
