Speaking of Morbid Angel, what did you think of the new album? You didn’t play on it at all, right?

Yeah, I had my back surgery and I had to be in recovery, so I didn’t play on the album. I don’t know — I don’t know what they thought… the first half of the album was okay, but it definitely wasn’t fresh and new. And then the techno songs on the album? I don’t know why they did that with the DJs, they could’ve have just done a separate project without calling it a Morbid Angel album. That might have been better. The reviews and fans were not very happy, I don’t think. But I’ve been with them for twenty-plus years and I wish them well.

Kako da se opameti kad mu je sprzen mozak LSD-jem i ekserima...nego, ja i dalje mislim da ce se Pit vrnuti u redove MA. Ovu izjavu vise gledam kao neki njegov nacin da se distancira od ovog albuma (mada nije sporno da se malo udaljio od benda), jer mu se ne svidja. Nije svirao na njemu, tako da nema potrebe da trpi kritike zajedno sa bendom. Mada, mozda je stvarno van benda, ko zna. Btw moji pogledi na album su identicni njegovim, dakle i o tome da je metal deo bajat, i o tome da su tehno delove trebali izdati pod drugim imenom.

 

Hiljadu kinti kaze da ce se on vratiti na sledecem albumu, mozda cak i turneji pre toga, i da ce to marketinski biti toliko izeksploatisano ('Classic MA lineup is back! True Morbid Angel' etc.), da covek ne poveruje.

Here is a little story for you, from someone who wants to stay in the dark due to his involvement in the business, entertaining reading if you ask me :

 

"Season Of Mist paid morbid angel $250,000 for a 2 album deal.

 

They hated the album and Michael Berberian (SOM's boss), tried to have the order of the songs rearanged : he was against the idea that the album would start with "Too Extreme!" because then at first listen people will know its a shit album instead of hearing the brutal tracks first so it would fool people into liking it when they sample the first couple of songs, this is why he released the single of "Nevermore", he added the remix as a test. When he realized that he would not make much money on the album, he did what any label does to make sure they make at least their money back : they promote the fuck out of it,...

 

You can promote anything and it will sell, because even if its shit, when people see the logo, it's psychological to want to get it... it's just the world of advertising schemes, like McDonalds , and shitty pop music. In the process, SOM dropped EVERY band that was releasing records that month (Necrophagia, Benighted, Nader Sadek and others) with either NO promotion or hardly any, so they can concentrate really hard on selling Illud Crapinum Insanus.

 

Eventually SOM and Morbid Angel got in a big fight because one of SOM's employees nicknamed DV as Dave "Hollywood" Vincent. David Vincent heard about it and flipped out creating a big problem with SOM."

 

The question is : Is the remix album considred album number 2 of the deal ?

I have no sympathy for Berberian: he did the same shit when Mayhem signed to the label - apparently involving leaving €40,000 in cash under a tree! I forget how the story went exactly: the band wanted to be paid in cash so they could evade the Norwegian taxmen so apparently the band passed on this request to Berberain, who acquired the cash through the sales of his vinyl collection, and was told to leave the cash hidden either under a tree or in a bush somewhere in Oslo (the band's hometown). The facade started out as hearsay (much like it sounds) but was essentially verified. :/
