Metal Asylum recently conducted an interview with VIRGIN STEELE frontman David DeFeis about the band's forthcoming epic, entitled "Visions of Eden". An excerpt from the chat follows: Metal Asylum: Tell us about the forthcoming album "Visions of Eden". Why that title? David: "The work is based on the destruction of paganism, and gnosticism and the desecration and eradication of the goddess principle that once dwelled so freely within divinity. A massive blow was struck against these early beliefs, by first, the rise of the 'father-god' principle, and second by the development of the 'organized' religions. The album concerns Lilith, first wife of Adam (he of biblical fame, as in Adam and Eve and the apple, the snake and all that fig leaf and rib propaganda), plus ancient sumerian myths concerning Lilith's relationship with Adam, Eve and God. However, that being said, in actuality, it is really about today…modern times and how we might have arrived here at this very strange place we are now in…The title and the cover reflect the idea of...where are those visions of Eden??? When will we have them? It is a longing for the divine and the eternal in beauty, grace, nobility, etc." Metal Asylum: What have you done musically with this album that you maybe had not achieved in the past? David: "It is perhaps even darker than the darkest VIRGIN STEELE moments. It is more nocturnal, autumnal, celestial, vampiric, paganistic, lunar, underground, and, in general, more extreme. The brutality is, if possible, even more brutal (especially mentally speaking), and the tender moments are incredibly melancholy, tortured, forlorn and torn. It is a music full of eternal longing, suffering and regret. Long smoldering passions, lust and despair ignite, consume and die... In the end... a type of hope arises. Not always the 'all conquering triumph ideology,' but a sense of merging with the perennial consciousness of the universe, where one day.... a rebirth of sorts might follow... a beauty born of grief. I am using more piano or acoustic guitar combined with very deeply tuned heavy guitars. Vocally it is very, very melodic, and I can be tender, aggressive, and bluesy. At times the vocal style is like the bluesy singing on the 'Life Among The Ruins' album, only the music and melodies here are very, very different. 'Visions of Eden' is very atmospheric. There are big epic anthemic pieces, with always sing-able and memorable 'hooks,' but there is also a dark, brooding, moody, impressionistic, quality that manifests itself throughout. There is over-the-top orchestration yet simplicity. Nothing is done for the sake of overindulgence, or complexity for complexity's sake. Everything is in proportion, balance and effective for the feelings/sentiments in question. It is a new development, I think. A further progression of my compositional style. These works are epic, bombastic and totally full-on metal, sort of like Conan the Barbarian meets Wagner in a dark, black cave! Perhaps it sounds like...cold moonlight on a haunted cathedral. It screams out like a frightening apparition, a banshee, or it moans tragically like the wailing of the wind through accursed ruins... Images of stark bare trees, clutching at a dark, pregnant, grey/black cloud covered sky while fog stalks the streets are conjured. Several tracks contain a very eerie, haunting quality that would be very much at home in a horror movie such as 'The Omen', 'The Ninth Gate' or 'The Exorcist'! All are extremely heavy, moody and melodic. It is music to accompany either the ending of the world, the birthing of a new world, or both!!!" http://www.metalasylum.net/interviews/int0621.html - ceo intervju ++ David sere k'o iskusna foka Mislim..da li mi to dobijamo heavy album sa death i gothic elementima?

Haute Tension - najgori i najgluplji film ikada.

Bubnjar nije jebeno normalan. NAjbolji deo albuma je definitivno od "Ugly Is To The Bone" do "Spirit In Decay", znachi taj deo albuma je divine thrash celina...mogao bih ovako do sutra da hvalim...Osi zlatne sredine, izdvaja se i "Rudest Awakening", jedna od zaraznijih pesama i "Dreadnaught Day", dok mi je jedina slaba pesma na 'bumu "Chameleon"... perfection.

Pa nisam mnogo prouchavao porodichno stablo iskreno

Niko Kaartinen of Finland's Imperiumi webzine recently conducted an interview with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mastermind Devin Townsend. A few excerpts from the chat follow (translated from Finnish by Mike Portnoy forum member "tommidt"): Imperiumi: "The New Black" is STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's fifth and final record for Century Media. Is this the last record of SYL's career? Devin: "I hope so. I believe so. I signed a five-album deal with Century Media and this is now the fifth. There you have five records; they are very happy with that and I've done my job. Next! (laughs)" Imperiumi: What did the Century Media people think when you told them that you were going to take rest of the year off be with your family? Wouldn't this be the best time to promote SYL [seeing as you have a new record coming out]? Devin: "Well, this might get me in trouble, but I couldn't care less. Should I be on tour while I have a newborn baby at home? My wife is pregnant, so should I be far from home drinking booze and pretending that I care about heavy metal? In how many different ways I can say that I don't care? In how many ways I can say that I'm through with this thing? I said I'd make five records, [and] I did them. We are now doing a European tour, playing some big shows. Fine. We'll do Ozzfest; those are big shows too. We don't need anything else, in my opinion. . . You can keep 'The New Black', I don't care anymore. Keep the rights to the band, do what you want. I don't care anymore, and I think it is just stupid. The manager, the band and record company look at me now just like I am the enemy, because I feel this way. But what can you do? You can't just keep going like this anymore. I have done this for a several years now." Imperiumi: But still, it is about your life. You want to be able to control it. Devin: "Exactly, if you are not able to control it, you are wasted. You'll end up being a junkie or an alcoholic who ends up cheating your wife. Or you'll end up a fake rock star, thinking you actually are one." Imperiumi: Is the the gap between SYL and your solo material becoming closer? Devin: "It feels like I'm less and less angry all the time. Even THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND will put out softer stuff in the future, so the SYL material feels even harder now compared to my solo material. My next recordings will probably be something like this (points out the beautiful nature of Finland's Provinssirock festival), something [representing] beautiful scenery. Beautiful things. I don't have to be hard/tough (heavy) anymore. I'm 34 years old, I'm already old." Imperiumi: How do you want SYL to be remembered? Devin: "As a big middle finger! How else?" Imperiumi: Does Gene (Hoglan, SYL drummer) know yet that this is the last record? Devin: "Umm... I don't know. I don't think anyone knows that. I just HOPE this is the last one, because I don't have anything to say with this band anymore. Who knows what the future will bring? Now I just hope that I can do other things."

Former BLIND GUARDIAN drummer Thomen Stauch will be unable to perform any shows this year with his new band, SAVAGE CIRCUS, due to an unspecified medical/psychological condition. The following is Stauch's official statement on the matter: "Due to ongoing serious private problems in the past months my psychological and physical constitution is completely broken and makes me unable to play the upcoming shows planned for this year! I know you all have been waiting a long time already to see SAVAGE CIRCUS live for the first time and I have been really curious to meet you all again as well, but there is just nothing I can do to change this situation "The doctors are convinced, that a long-term rest along with several psychological and physical treatments for the next months is the only way to make me feel better. After fighting this reality for a longer time I am ready now to take this road. It is the only way to get back on my feet. My entire body is totally power-drained and I am almost unable to concentrate on anything. Furthermore I am suffering from a chronic tonsillitis for almost 10 weeks by now which even with antibiotics is not getting better. According to the docs it seems that all is based on my stressed body and mind, which do not get a recovery if I go on like this. So I will take this advice and will give my body and soul a break to regain my powers and charge up my battery for the upcoming SAVAGE CIRCUS production in 2007. "Please understand that I cannot give you any information about the nature of my private problems since they should stay private. I am not exaggerating in saying, having still some power left in me is already a miracle under this circumstances. I hope you all do understand this serious situation. It breaks my heart to post this message, but I see no alternative. "But there also is some good news: all shows will happen as planned! For good luck Piet could manage to hire Thomas Nack once more for the upcoming gigs, so the shows will happen for sure and with a more than worthy stand-in for me! So don't be sad, friends! Kick ass, as Piet, Thomas, Jens, Emil will do as well! Make every show a big party for me and have fun! This will give me the strength to go through all this. Right now I am not in the position of giving. This time I need you and your support. I know that none of you will let me down and this makes me feel better already. "I truly hope to see you all again soon!" In a separate statement, the other members of SAVAGE CIRCUS — Jens Carlsson (lead vocals), Emil Norberg (guitar), and Piet Sielck (guitars, backing vocals) had the following to say regarding the matter: "As you can imagine we are quite shocked by this truly bad news, though it does not take us by surprise completely. We have been aware, that Thomen was having a real hard time in the past but it seemed as if he would be strong enough to deal with all his strokes of fate. Unfortunately, we overestimated his powers… just as he did himself, too. Please understand, that we also cannot talk about the nature of his problems, but we can say for sure that they are massive. "Of course, Thomen gets all the support we can give. The band is behind him AS ONE! Therefore, besides our personal feelings about the live shows, it is our duty to play all 2006 shows for Thomen. There is no good in cancelling the gigs since SAVAGE CIRCUS is the only way to give Thomen what he needs most in those times: Support. Support by us, by our friends and partners and by you, the fans! He needs you! For decades it has been Thomen who was giving his heart and his music to you. 2006 it is your chance to pay him back. Come to the shows to party and kick ass with us so we can tell Thomen, what all our great fans are doing for him. This will be the ultimate medicine! "As Thomen already said, we know that you will not let us down. We will start rehearsing with Thomas Nack right away to guarantee for killer SAVAGE CIRCUS shows in 2006!" Eee..pa i Thomas je legenda...Al opet..steta sto ne dolaze u Bugarsku npr...

Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS will re-release their third album, "Astralism", as a digipack, featuring a newly written bonus track, entitled "21st Century Medieval". "The sound on the album has been polished and has been remastered by a profesional," the band write on their web site. "This is how it was meant to sound from the beginning. Sounds insane but the first version slipped through without our approval. If we've had the last word the first version would never been released, that's for sure."
