This show was absolutely fun. During Demon of the Fall, Mike Portnoy started throwing grapes and bread at the band members from off stage. Mike Åkerfeldt, being the comedian he is, made coments about Portnoy and improved a one line song called "Mike Portnoy's a Bitch." The lyrics were, "Mike Portnoy is a fucking bitch."

Portnoy also gave Åkerfeldt some pictures prior to going on stage. They were stuck on his monitor speaker infront of Åkerfeldt's mic. One was an autographed picture that read, "I <3 u, Luv, Mike Portnoy." Another picture was of a naked girl's a** that Åkerfeldt held up for the crowd to see. The last picture was a bukakki picture, which Åkerfeldt said, "We do not condone stuff like this, it's inappropriate and sick" in a very joking tone.

In the middle of Baying of the Hounds, Portnoy came out wearing a robe and a headband holding a utility broom; he started sweeping the food off of the floor. He took the broom and constantly ran into Åkerfeldt and Mendez. Portnoy turned around to Axe and started smacking his drum kit and cymbals with the broom! Portnoy eventually left the stage.

Opeth played In My Time of Need, and during the second chours LaBrie comes out in shorts and a jersey and escorts Mike Åkerfeldt off of the mic. He starts singing the rest of the song. When it was over, Mike says, "Who was that guy?" and called for security!

The next to songs went off without a hitch. But, during The Drapery Falls, Portnoy started closing the curtains on Opeth. He continued to raise and lower the curtains until Mike started singing. At the end of the show, Dream Theater ran out on stage and covered everyone in Opeth in Silly String. Åkerfeldt promised to pay Dream Theater back during their set!

During this show, Mike Åkerfeldt of Opeth promised to get back at Dream Theater from the antics mentioned in the Opeth June 1st post.

Unfortunately it was somewhat ineventful. Åkerfeldt throw a bunch of ping pong balls at the band sometime around DT's second, third and fourth songs. A bunch of them bounced off of Portnoy's kit, one hit LaBrie in the head. After that, LaBrie returned fire and made a comment after a song along the lines of, "Come on? Ping pong balls, like that's gonna hurt us." A few more were thrown but that was it.

After the show, the members from 3 and Between the Burried and Me came out and took bows with Dream Theater. Opeth never showed.

Backstage I asked Mike Portnoy if he enjoyed the new Opeth song, "Mike Portnoy's a Bitch?" (that can be read about in the Opeth June 1st post also). Mike laughed and said, "It's great that Mike immortalized my name. I'm glad he came on tour with us, we had a lot of fun with them."

quote sa drugog foruma:

Opeth were next and they put an a great show as usual. This was my third time seeing them, and probably was the best I've seen so far. Mike did his usual joking around inbetween songs. At one point, they played the intro to Black Rose Immortal and he said "That was the intro to Black Rose Immortal, no we are not playing it" DON'T FUCKING TEASE US LIKE THAT MIKE They did a solid 1 hour, 45 minute set:

Demon of the Fall

Master's Apprentices

The Baying of the Hounds

In My Time of Need

Serenity Painted Death

Wreath

To Rid the Disease

Heir Apparent

------------------

The Drapery Falls

Guitars and metal, we’re coming to town....!

Hello people!

We made it! First tour in support of "Watershed" nailed down! We really enjoyed the Progressive nation tour, all of us. It was one of the smoothest and quickest runs we've ever done. Great company too! All the guys from Dream theater are so nice. I got painfully aware of how much The Port likes to mess things up for their support bands on the final show. As we entered the stage in Tampa/Florida there were porn pics taped to my wedges, the drum kit was covered in baby powder, he kept going on and off stage with a broom sweeping it over my pedals, over the keyboards, drums. He was throwing bread and grapes in my head as we're playing, and obviously started messing with the curtain during "The drapery falls". Nice! We got him back though. I think us and the guys from BTBAM took charge of the paypack. During Dream Theaters set we decided to play some golf on the side of the stage. Hitting the balls (plastic of course) at the band. We actually (no names) hit James LaBrie in the head! He looked a little pissed actually, but he should blame the Port, haha! Oh yeah, we put a banana in Mikes mic stand (the one that swings around) + when he got up from his chair (as he's doing during shows) we slipped a little pie up on it. Childish? Yes. Fun? Oh yes!

We also had James come up and sing a little bit on "In my time of need" which was a big honour! Great guy! All of them were! Genuine people the lot of them, and their crew!

I was also very impressed with 3 and BTBAM. 3 blew me away actually! What a band! I'm sure we'll cross paths with all these guys again.

Oh, I guess you heard about the fire curtain in Miami? Well, it's fun in a way, but that thing could have made some damage. It was a heavy fucking thing that would probably had knock us out good if we'd gotten it in the head. But indeed….Spinal fucking Tap!!

And, now the album's been released and all! It's going well! We got in the fucking charts….! Number 1 in Finland! What the hell??? Number 23 on Billboard?? Sick! I mean, I thought I wouldn't be affected by great chart positions like that but I can't help but to feel it's kinda cool! For an album like "Watershed" I think it's pretty insane it's in any charts at all. Still very pleased with this album and we'll start playing more songs from it soon.

We've been brainstorming a little over what songs we're gonna play on the headlining tours. It's difficult to choose….!!!!

Mendez became a dad a few days ago! He got a son called Noak. I've seen a picture of him and he's very sweet! Loads of hair! Hair apparent!

I'm very happy that I can share my situation with another band member. Usually me and our guitar tech, Coty sit around talking about our kids. He's got a daughter who's just a little older than Melinda. Being away all the time it's comforting talking about your kids with someone in the same situation. Most people don't understand how stressful it is to be away from them.

In Austria (Nova rock) we'd scheduled a gig that clashed with Noak's birtdate, so we had to bring in a replacement for that one. We found a guy called Johan Niemann who'd been playing with Therion. Great guy and he did a great job, but I admit it was very awkward playing a show without Mendez. The king! He'll be back for the next one though…

OK, gearing up for Turkey which is the next show. Can't wait!

Well, I have to go help my wife with the garden now. My life is confusing…confusingly lovely sometimes!

Cheers guys!

Mike

Chicken Pox and Cancellations! URGENT!

Due to Mikael contracting Varicella (Chicken Pox), the appearances this weekend, Peace & Love (Borlänge) 26th, Hove festival (Norway) 27th, Metal town (Gothenbourg) 28th, and Graspop Dessel (Belgium) 29th, have all been cancelled. We hope to have Mike on his feet again as soon as possible, and obviously apologize to all and any that had set out to see Opeth this weekend.

Chickenpox is a highly contagious illness caused by primary infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV). It generally begins with conjunctival and catarrhal symptoms and then characteristic spots appearing in two or three waves, mainly on the body and head rather than the hands and becoming itchy raw pockmarks, small open sores which heal mostly without scarring.

Chickenpox has a 10-21 day incubation period and is spread easily through aerosolized droplets from the nasopharynx of ill individuals or through direct contact with secretions from the rash. Following primary infection there is usually lifelong protective immunity from further episodes of chickenpox.

Chickenpox is rarely fatal, although it is generally more severe in adults than in children. Pregnant women and those with a suppressed immune system are at highest risk of serious complications. The most common late complication of chicken pox is shingles, caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus decades after the initial episode of chickenpox.

Ovako nešto, s tim što, kad se preleži u starijem dobu, može imati veće posledice, što se nadam da se neće dogoditi.
