KATAKLYSM recorded the single "The Iron Will" last week in Montreal, Canada with guitarist/producer Jean-Francois Dagenais. It will be mixed this fall by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, BEHEMOTH, MNEMIC) in Denmark and will be released with a video clip on iTunes one month before the release of the documentary DVD "The Iron Will: 20 Years Determined", which depicts the ups and downs of the band's long, turbulent career... one that made KATAKLYSM one of today's top names in extreme music.

 

"The Iron Will" DVD will be released in the spring of 2012 and will include this year's live performance from the Summer Breeze festival.

EX DEO — the Ancient Roman-themed arsenal led by KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono — will enter JFD studios in Dallas, Texas and Montreal, Canada in the fall with producer Jean-François Dagenais (KATAKLYSM, MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON) to begin recording its sophomore album, "Caligula", for an early 2012 release via Austria's Napalm Records. According to the band, the CD will feature "the most intense 'epic metal soundtrack' to come out in recent history."

 

Commented Iacono: "The album will once again have the honor of some elite guest appearances. The band promises an album that will shake the metal scene!"

 

The artwork and layout for "Caligula" will be handled by classic artist Seth (SEPTICFLESH). Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "I, Caligula", "Burned to Serve the Nocturnal Light", "In War & Conquest/Roma Caput Mundi" and "Teutoburg (The Ambush of Varus) - Part 1".

Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM will release a documentary DVD, "The Iron Will: 20 Years Determined", in the spring of 2012. The set will depict the ups and downs of the band's long, turbulent career, as well as footage of KATAKLYSM's performance at this year's Summer Breeze festival, which took place August 18-20, 2011 in Dinkelsbühl, Germany.
